NicoleBryan joined DC Prep in 2008 as the school's Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment where she provided coaching and professional development. Nicole was a classroom teacher for six years, the first two as a Teach For America corps member, and has worked in both elementary and early childhood programs. She holds a BA in Spanish from Georgetown University and an MA in education from George Washington University with a dual concentration in Curriculum and Instruction and Bilingual Special Education. Nicole is currently pursuing her doctorate at The George Washington University with a focus on Leadership for Diverse Students.
Shaunte Edmonds joined DC Prep in 2012 and supports school culture and instructional initiatives. Shaunte came to DC Prep with several years of leadership experience. She previously served as a principal at a DC charter school and assistant principal at Bronx Prep in NY. At Bronx Prep, she also served the roles of middle school teacher, grade level leader, and history coach. Shaunte’s career in education started here in DC as a 5th Grade teacher at C.W. Harris Elementary School through the DC Teaching Fellows program of TNTP. Shaunte received a BA from Columbia University, an MA from American University, and an EdM from Teachers College at Columbia University.
Terica Alleyne joined DC Prep in 2007 as a founding member of the Edgewood Elementary Campus. She spearheads the student culture and character development efforts for Early Childhood. Prior to that, she taught inclusion 1st grade and has also taught in Queens, NY. Terica holds a BA from Syracuse University, an MEd from St. John’s University, and an MSA from Trinity University.
Jillian Fray-Evans joined DC Prep in 2007 as a founding faculty member at the Edgewood Elementary Campus. She provides a comprehensive developmental program of guidance and counseling to assist students. Prior to joining DC Prep, she worked as a Guidance Counselor at Mary Help of Christians Academy in Haledon, New Jersey. Jillian also has experience as a Treatment Coordinator and Caseworker. She has a BS from Delaware State University and an MA from Adelphi University.
Megan Gentzler joined DC Prep in 2011. She works with 1st through 3rd grade literacy teachers to develop curriculum and improve their instructional practice. After completing two years as a Teach For America corps member in San Jose, CA, Megan taught literacy at Rocketship Hybrid Charter School and participated in a network-wide leadership development program. She received a BA from Tufts University.
Dana Polmateer joined DC Prep in 2007 as a founding faculty member at Edgewood Elementary Campus. She works with early childhood teachers to develop curriculum and improve their instructional practice. Prior to that, she was a kindergarten teacher at DC Prep. Dana has experience teaching elementary reading, daycare students, and preschool. She also taught in Australia through a program at Boston University, where she has a BS.
Laura Ressler joined DC Prep in 2012. She works to ensure that DC Prep’s Edgewood Elementary campus provides appropriate programs in the least restrictive environment for all students with special needs. Prior to DC Prep, Laura taught Special Education in Washington, DC and Philadelphia, PA. She has also been involved with TNTP since 2007. Laura received a BA from the University of Buffalo, State University of New York and a graduate certification from Eastern University.
Drew Snodgrass joined DC Prep in 2010. Drew works with the 1st through 3rd grade Math teachers to develop curriculum and improve their instructional practice. He also served as a 2nd grade lead teacher at DC Prep for two years before moving into the Math Coordinator role. Drew was named a finalist in the 2012 DC Teacher of the Year competition as well. Prior to joining DC Prep, he taught for three years in the Mississippi Delta Region as part of the Teach For America program. He has taught 2nd, 5th, and 6th grades and has a BS from Illinois Wesleyan University.
Andrew Touchette joined DC Prep in 2012 as Edgewood Elementary's Dean of Academic Support. In his current role, Andrew leads school culture and character education efforts for 1st through 3rd grade students at the Edgewood Elementary Campus. Andrew has extensive experience in school leadership. He supported school leaders from across the country as the associate fellowship director at Building Excellent Schools and was the founding principal of Chavez Prep in Columbia Heights. Andrew has significant experience in the classroom as a teacher, as well. He received a BA from Fordham University and an MA from New York University.
Jonathan Host came to DC Prep in 2011 from the AppleTree Institute for Education Innovation where he conducted observational training sessions and classroom quality data analysis. Jonathan also worked for Hager-Sharp Communications where he provided support in data collection for NAEP. He received a BA from UCLA and an MA from Columbia University.
Michael Brooks joined DC Prep in 2009. He provides building and grounds security at both Edgewood Campuses. Prior to that, Michael worked for Construction Labors Contractor, where he participated in the total renovation of the Pentagon.
Kiara Jewette joined DC Prep in 2012. While studying at George Mason University, Kiara operated the campus switchboard. She also volunteered for several youth organizations. Kiara has a BA from George Mason University.
Cynthia Parry has been with DC Prep since 2009 and is the Edgewood Elementary Campus school nurse. She is affiliated with Children’s National Medical Center. Cynthia attended the Howard University College of Nursing, where she earned her BSN and RN.
Kylie Alsofrom joined DC Prep in 2011 after completing two years as a Teach For America corps member in DC. She taught elementary special education using both the inclusive and self-contained models at DC Bilingual Public Charter School. Kylie holds a BA from Claremont McKenna College and an MA from George Mason University.
Praneetha Arthur joined DC Prep in 2008. Praneetha's previous experience includes work as an English as a Second Language instructor and Spanish teacher to early childhood and elementary students. She received a BA from Wake Forest University and an MAT in TESOL from American University.
Amanda Barragan came to DC Prep in 2011. She previously taught Spanish at Friendship Public Charter School in DC. In addition, she has studied in Colombia and Spain. Amanda has a BA from the National Pedagogical and Technical University of Colombia.
Judith Bhatia joined DC Prep in 2008. She got her start in education through the DC Teaching Fellows program in 2001. She has taught both early childhood and elementary students throughout Washington, DC and in Montgomery County public schools. Prior to entering the teaching profession, Judith gained experience in legislative affairs while working at a bi-partisan lobbying firm in DC. She received a BA from the University of Maryland and an MAT from American University.
Dionna Billingsley joined DC Prep in 2012. She previously taught second grade in VA and has played the roles of tutor, mentor, and aide in several DC Charter Schools. Dionna received a BS from Virginia Commonwealth University and an MEd from Howard University.
Victoria Davies joined DC Prep in 2012. Before coming to DC Prep, Victoria was a Kindergarten teacher through the Urban Teacher Center at a DC charter school. She has a BA from Franklin & Marshall College.
Erin Flynn | Special Education/Intervention Teacher
Erin Flynn joined DC Prep in 2012. She previously student taught in a 4th grade classroom in Connecticut. For five years, Erin mentored a teen with special needs by teaching life skills and helping establish positive social interactions. She received a BS from Central Connecticut State University.
Jared Gallow joined DC Prep in 2012. Prior to DC Prep, Jared was a Teaching Fellow at AppleTree Institute. He also taught art for three years at SAIL Public Charter School. He received a BA from Baylor University.
Angel Hendricks joined DC Prep in fall 2007 as a founding faculty member and Resident Teacher at the Edgewood Elementary Campus. She came to DC Prep with experience as a social work intern, and Boys & Girls Club counselor. Angel received a BA from Xavier University of Louisiana and an MAT from American University.
Marie Hinds joined DC Prep in 2008 where she came from Jamaica through Teachers Council. While in Jamaica, she taught music education and Math to students in preschool through 4th grade and provided private tutoring to students in 5th and 6th grade. Marie received a BS from Western Carolina University and is currently pursuing an MA in curriculum and instruction.
Jordan Kerstetter joined DC Prep in 2012 after five years of teaching at an early childhood charter school in DC, where she started there as a Teaching Fellow and after several years became a Master Teacher. Jordan has a BA from the University of Northern Iowa.
Morgan Kret came to DC Prep in 2010. Prior to that, Morgan volunteered with AmeriCorps Vista as a Youth Programs and Volunteer Coordinator. She has been working with the youth of DC for a decade and holds a BA from Skidmore College.
Matthew Krummert joined DC Prep in 2012 with six years of elementary teaching experience. He previously taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades in Fairfax County Schools where he also served as a mentor to novice teachers. Matthew received a BS from the University of Pittsburgh and an MEd from George Mason University.
Alexandra Legutko joined DC Prep in 2012. As a 2010 Teach For America Chicago corps member, she taught preschool for two years. Alexandra also served as an Education and Outreach Chair for Operation Educate Children in Ann Arbor Michigan. She has a BA from the University of Michigan and an MS from Dominican University.
Kayla Locklin joined DC Prep in fall 2008. She has experience with youth at the National Head Start Association, with Southeast DC Partners, as a daycare teacher and as a camp counselor. Kayla received a BA from the College of William and Mary.
Elizabeth Lucas came to DC Prep in 2011 as Teach For America corps member. She previously taught elementary students in Virginia as a student teacher. In addition, she spent time teaching upper grades in Rome, Italy. Elizabeth has a BA as well as an MAT from James Madison University.
Charlotte Lysohir joined DC Prep in 2012 as a member of Teach For America’s Metro DC cohort. Charlotte was a volunteer for the Boys & Girls Club and the staff photographer for Project Eye-to-Eye, a network of youth mentoring programs for those with learning differences. She has a BA from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
Terri Myaing joined DC Prep in fall 2008 with several years of experience in early childhood education. Prior to joining DC Prep, she served as a Director at LaPetite Academy. Terri has a BS from Columbia Union College and an MAT from American University.
Reese Ornellas joined DC Prep in 2012. Prior to DC Prep, Reese taught 4th grade in San Francisco, CA. He also spent a summer teaching English in China. Reese has a BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz and an MAT from the University of San Francisco.
Nina Oropeza joined DC Prep in 2012 as an Intervention Teacher, working primarily with 3rd grade students. Prior to DC Prep, Nina was a Teach For America corps member in the Rio Grande Valley region for two years, where she was a Sue Lehman Teaching Award nominee. Nina has extensive experience in the classroom and volunteering at the high school and elementary levels. She received a BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
Denise Patterson joined DC Prep in 2012 with seven years of elementary teaching experience at a DC charter school where she taught both 2nd grade and prekindergarten. She holds a BBA from Trinity University and an MEd from Grand Canyon University.

Naomi Perl joined DC Prep in 2007 as a founding faculty member at the Edgewood Elementary Campus. She previously worked at P.S.130 in the Bronx as a Teach For America (TFA) corps member and also taught 5th grade for two years in Windsor, CT. Naomi also served as a TFA content area specialist and Director of Education at Camp College, Mercer County Community College. Naomi received a BS from Syracuse University and an MEd from Trinity Washington University.
Sharon Podobnik joined DC Prep in 2012. After teaching middle school math in Miami-Dade Public Schools for two years as a Teach For America (TFA) corps member, she became an instructional coach. Sharon has also done some independent contract work for TFA. She has a BA from the University of Pittsburgh and an MS from the University of Miami.
Melissa Rich joined DC Prep in 2012. Prior to DC Prep, Melissa taught 3rd and 5th grades as a member of Teach For America’s 2010 Miami Corps. Melissa also coached a girls’ high school basketball team. She has both a BA and an MEd from Lehigh University.
Malisha Samarasekera joined DC Prep in 2012. She taught second grade for two years prior to DC Prep in Mississippi as a member of Teach For America’s 2010 Delta cohort. Malisha received her BA from the University of Notre Dame.
Camilla Schaeffer came to DC Prep in 2011. Prior to joining DC Prep, she completed a year of volunteering at Mastery Charter School in Philadelphia through AmeriCorps’ City Year program. Camilla has a BA from Albright College.
Ellen Shupe came to DC Prep in 2011. She previously student taught in a 3rd grade classroom in Gettysburg, PA. She also spent time volunteer tutoring students receiving special education and ESL services. Ellen has a BA from Gettysburg College.
Nicole Small joined DC Prep in 2009 as a Resident Teacher. She first came to DC Prep as an intern at the Edgewood Middle Campus and a Prep EX! teacher at the Edgewood Elementary Campus as well. Nicole has a BS from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Daniel Sprouse came to DC Prep in 2011. Previously, he taught at Charter School of the Dunes in Gary, IN, as a physical education teacher for eight years. In addition, he also served as the athletic director for the Boys & Girls Club of America in Gary. Daniel holds a BA from Indiana University Northwest.
Emily Strezlecki joined DC Prep in 2012. Prior to DC Prep, Emily taught science at Ballou Senior High School as a member of the 2010 Teach For America’s DC Metro corps. She has a BS from Miami University and an MAT from American University.
Kelley Suber joined DC Prep in 2012. Before coming to DC Prep, Kelley was a classroom assistant for several years and worked in various elementary schools through an internship. She has an AA from Montgomery College.
Grace-Ann Taylor joined DC Prep in fall 2008 from Jamaica through Teachers Council. Before coming to DC Prep, she taught for seven years in Jamaica at the kindergarten level. Grace-Ann has a BA from the University of the West Indies, and an MA from the University of South Florida.
Alexa Teevens joined DC Prep in 2012 as a DC Teaching Fellow. Alexa was also a member of an AmeriCorps cohort in California where she worked with an early childhood program. She received a BA from Claremont McKenna College.
AnnMarie Thomas joined DC Prep in 2007 as a founding faculty member at the Edgewood Elementary Campus. She came to DC Prep from Jamaica through Teachers Council. She taught for several years in Jamaica and has served as an early childhood teacher and a child development tutor. AnnMarie has both a BA and an MA from the University of the West Indies.
Shay Tichnell joined DC Prep in 2010 as a Center For Inspired Teaching Fellow. She completed her student teaching at Capital City Public Charter School. Prior to teaching, Shay worked as a senior case manager at a foster care organization. She has a BA from Seton Hill University.
Mary-Frances Weatherly joined DC Prep in 2011. She comes to the organization with an extensive instructional background in public and private schools in the Charlottesville, VA area. Mary Frances holds a BA from Washington and Lee University and an MAT from the University of Virginia.
