Three DC Prep Edgewood Middle Campus (EMC) faculty members have been selected as 2012 EPIC Spotlight Teacher Award Winners by New Leaders. Shomari Jennings (7th grade math), Allison Lashley (8th grade math), and Rachel McClam (5th grade math) were honored for their significant classroom-level gains. Out of the 14 EPIC Silver and Gold Award Winning schools, EPIC selected just 28 to teachers to win this prestigious nomination – three of whom represent DC Prep!
Earlier this year, EMC was selected as a 2012 EPIC Silver Gain Award Winner by New Leaders – one of just 14 charter schools selected across the country (out of a field of 179). To read more about the tremendous student gains leading to this award, click here.
New Leaders’ EPIC program (Effective Practice Incentive Community) is designed to identify and share best practices across a consortium of high-performing charter schools nationally, providing a unique opportunity for top-quality educators to learn from their peers. Conceived in 2006 by New Leaders, EPIC is funded primarily by the U.S. Department of Education's Teacher incentive Fund Program. For more information, visit www.newleaders.org.
