Emily Lawson, is the Founder and CEO. Since 2002, she has led the growth of DC Prep from a single middle school to one of the highest-performing Charter Management Organizations in the nation’s capital. Ms. Lawson’s work at DC Prep has been featured in The Washington Post and on the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, and has attracted the support of major national foundations focused on public education reform. Before launching DC Prep, Ms. Lawson was the Vice President of Operations for Victory Schools, a school management company. She was also a member of the start-up team at the Academy of the Pacific Rim, a Boston charter school. Ms. Lawson holds an M.B.A. with Distinction from Harvard Business School and an M.P.A., with a focus on education, from the Kennedy School of Government. Her business career includes three years at The Boston Consulting Group and two years at the New York private equity firm, New Mountain Capital. She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina where she was a Morehead Scholar. In May 2007, she completed the Broad Foundation's Associate Residency in Urban Education.

David Leahy, Chief Operating Officer, is responsible for operations, finance, and real estate. Mr. Leahy comes to DC Prep from NewSchools Venture Fund where he was an Associate Partner, conducting due diligence on Charter Management Organizations (CMOs) nationally and making investment recommendations to NewSchools investment partners. Before joining NewSchools, he served as Director of Financial Planning for Charter Schools USA for three years, where he also managed new school development, including the launch of multiple schools in Florida and Texas. Mr. Leahy taught senior high Social Studies for two years in Pensacola, Florida.  He holds an MBA from Wake Forest, a master's in teaching from the University of Portland, and is a cum laude graduate of the University of Notre Dame.

Ibby Jeppson, Director of Resource Development, is responsible for development, strategic partnerships and communications. She has more than 30 years experience in not-for-profit management, program development, and social policy. Before joining DC Prep, she taught in the Pediatrics Department at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Jeppson has authored numerous books and produced three award-winning documentary films. Her career began in the classroom, as a member of the National Teacher Corps. She holds a master’s degree in early childhood education and a doctorate in special education.

Alicia Robinson, Director of Recruitment, leads DC Prep's personnel and student recruitment efforts. Ms. Robinson comes to DC Prep from New Leaders for New Schools where she managed the recruitment and admissions process for New Leaders' candidates. Previously she served as the Senior Director for Education and Outreach at the Washington Scholarship Fund, overseeing the recruitment, placement and academic support for more than 2,000 students receiving scholarships through the Fund. Ms. Robinson is a graduate of American University, earning both a bachelor's degree in Public Communication and a master's in Elementary Education. Ms. Robinson entered teaching through DC Teaching Fellows. She taught 4th grade at Parkview Elementary School and was a member of DC Prep’s Founding Faculty.

Wendy Scott, Director of Compliance and Technology, works closely with the COO to support campus operations, federal and state monitoring, and information technology. Ms. Scott comes to DC Prep through the Broad Residency in Urban Education, a two-year executive development program of the Broad Foundation. Before joining DC Prep, Ms. Scott was a Strategy and Operations Manager for Deloitte Consulting LLP, where she supported the management, administration, and oversight of federal government charge card programs. Her business career also includes time spent at Citigroup, Accenture, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Ms. Scott holds an MBA from Howard University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Lindsay Fallon, Director of Alumni Support, is charged with ensuring that DC Prep's graduates continue their college-bound trajectory throughout their high school years. She provides intense hands-on support to students, offers workshops and special programming for alumni and their parents, and serves as a sounding board for both academic and social concerns. Before joining DC Prep, Ms. Fallon, was Program Director for the City Kids Wilderness Project. She holds a bachelor's degree in Biology from Colorado College.

Kenny Wang, Director of Special Projects, works on emerging organizational and policy issues. Before joining DC Prep, Mr. Wang worked at MATCH Public Charter School in Boston where he co-founded their Teacher Training Program. He also served as a MATCH Corps Fellow. Mr. Wang spent two years with L.E.K. consulting before becoming involved in education reform. He holds a BA in Economics from Harvard College and a Master's in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government.

Pru Hallarman, Assessment Associate, is responsible for the collection and analysis of student data as well as developing data "dashboards" that present student progress in both academics and character at each DC Prep campus. Ms. Hallarman is a former Teach for America corps member who was recognized as Teacher of the Year at her school in Atlanta. She is a graduate of Yale University where she received a bachelor's degree in History.

Anne Baltren, Recruitment Associate, assists in the recruitment of DC Prep’s students and personnel. Ms. Baltren was a tutor for the America Reads and Counts Challenge and is a graduate of the Student Leadership Training Program where she was certified as a Leadership Instructor. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Fordham University.
