Howie Brown – Junior Academy Math teacher, Edgewood Middle Campus
"When I was in Teach for America, I often thought about how I would design a school for success, and when I found DC Prep, I realized that this was the school I had wanted to create."
 Howie Brown teaches 4th grade Math at the Edgewood Middle campus. Following his two years as a TFA corps member in Philadelphia, Howie worked at the Council on Foreign Relations. He decided that his passion lay in teaching, however, and joined the DC Prep staff in 2006. "When I first saw DC Prep's website and read the teacher job description, I felt as if this school was the model I had dreamed of. When I was in Teach for America, I often thought about how I would design a school for success, and when I found DC Prep, I realized that this was the school I had wanted to create. It has the orderly environment, character focus, academic rigor, and professional collaboration that a great school requires. Since arriving at DC Prep, it has actually surpassed my expectations. I am thrilled to be here, and very excited about creating more campuses to bring great education to even more students."
