Rosee Ragin – School Counselor, Edgewood Middle Campus

"Character development is a critically important component of the DC Prep model."

Rosee Ragin, DC Prep's School Counselor, takes the lead in developing the Character Education Program. Helping students develop the vocabulary and habits that lead to self-reflection and creating opportunities for them to share their insights and observations with others has been both exciting and rewarding for her. "Character development is a critically important component of the DC Prep model. At our school, students are taught what it means to "Do the R.I.G.H.T. Thing," where R.I.G.H.T. stands for Respectful, Intelligent, Genuine, Hard-Working and Team-Oriented. We reinforce these values as a whole school, through our discipline policy and incentive program, and in activities throughout the year. We talk about them in small group advisories. Our goal: to have students internalize these core values. And I can attest that students are making tremendous progress. Now our oldest students model and reinforce them for our youngest students."
