DC Prep's teachers are passionate, talented, and uncompromising educators with a mission to make sure all students succeed at a high level. Every aspect of our organization and program is designed – and continually refined – to ensure that goal. DC Prep's staff and school leadership are building schools that promote meaningful relationships between faculty and students, enable excellent teaching, and foster professional collaboration. The management team is ensuring an organization that is focused and effective. The end result: great outcomes for students.
DC Prep's supportive, stimulating, and professionally rewarding learning environment continuously motivates high-performing teachers. We use key elements of the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP) model to ensure that professional development is an integral and integrated part of the DC Prep experience. Our Resident Teacher Program offers a path for novice teachers to learn alongside a skilled mentor. At DC Prep, all teachers are constantly working to deepen and improve their craft. All DC Prep faculty must meet the requirements to become Highly Qualified under the federal No Child Left Behind law.
DC Prep's current faculty comes from a variety of backgrounds: Teach for America alumni; DC Teaching Fellows alumni; DCPS veteran teachers; and individuals with backgrounds in parochial, private and public schools around the country. These outstanding teachers have arrived from a variety of backgrounds, yet they have one thing in common: they expect the best from their students, and they get it, through an artful blend of love and rigor.
