Kia, Principal of Benning Middle Campus (BMC), joined DC Prep in 2023 at our Anacostia Elementary Campus (AEC), after working at and helping support other charters in Ward 8. In 2023, she joined the AEC team as the Community Assistant Principal. Kia received her undergraduate degree in Pre-Med/Biology from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and her Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the George Washington University. Kia is passionate about creating a strong, joyful middle school experience that helps prepare Preppies for high school and beyond. Her Mantra is often stated, “The grass is not green on the other side, the grass is green wherever you water it.”
