Mary-Frances Smyth joined DC Prep’s Talent Team in 2016. Before becoming Senior Director of Talent, she served as Director of Recruitment, overseeing the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of staff across DC Prep’s six schools and Home Office. Earlier in her tenure, she focused on hiring teachers for DC Prep’s three elementary campuses.
Mary-Frances began her teaching career in 2011 at DC Prep’s Edgewood Elementary Campus as a student teacher before stepping into a lead 1st-grade teaching role. She went on to teach at high-performing charter networks in Baltimore and New York before returning to DC Prep to ensure the organization consistently recruits mission- and values-aligned teachers and leaders who will support our Preppies to thrive in college-prep high schools.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature from Washington and Lee University and a master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Virginia.
