DC Prep Edgewood Middle Campus is Top-Performing School for Second Consecutive Year on 2012 Performance Management Framework

November 07 2012 | Press Release

For the second year in a row, DC Prep’s Edgewood Middle Campus (EMC) achieved the highest overall rating as a Tier 1 school on the DC Public Charter School Board (PCSB) 2012 Performance Management Framework (PMF).

Of 64 charter school campuses ranked based on 2011-2012 school year performance, just 20 schools achieved Tier 1 status. Not only was DC Prep’s EMC ranked a Tier 1 school for the second consecutive year, it also received the highest overall rating of any school in Washington for the second consecutive year, with a score of 90.8% across all academic performance measures.

“Our campus community is thrilled with these results,” said Cassie Pergament, EMC’s Principal. “The 2012 PMF findings are a validation of the hard work our students, teachers, and leaders all put forth throughout the school year.”

“These outstanding results are a further demonstration of how DC Prep is closing the achievement gap in the nation’s capital,” said Rick Cruz, DC Prep’s Chief Executive Officer.

The PMF is compiled annually by the DC PCSB and serves as its evaluation tool for tracking charter school performance citywide based on a variety of factors including DC CAS results as well as attendance and reenrollment rates.* Schools are rated in three Tiers – Tier 1 schools meet the standards of the highest performance, Tier 2 schools meet minimum standards, and Tier 3 schools demonstrate inadequate performance.

*Only schools serving upper elementary, middle, and high school student populations are evaluated by the PMF. DC Prep’s Edgewood Elementary Campus (EEC) and Benning Elementary Campus (BEC) are two of 38 charter schools issued Accountability Plans through the DC PCSB to measure academic performance and, as such, are not ranked in the roster of PMF schools.
